JOHNSTOWN — The Curwensville girls wrestling team, already with two other tournaments under their belts, were joined by the Clearfield Lady Bison, making their tournament debut, at Bishop McCort High School on Saturday.
There 18 schools represented, with the Lady Tide placing ninth with 42 points and the Lady Bison right behind in 10th with 38 points. Saegertown won the team title with 125 points.

The top local finisher was Clearfield’s Makayla Taylor who pinned her way to the 155 pound title, going 3-0 on the day.
A trio of Curwensville girls placed third – Tessa Queen at 142, Emily Neeper at 190, and Jaidyn Sykes at 235.
Other Curwensville girls contributing to the team’s success was Skylar Taylor at 112, Savannah Harley and Gabrielle Bamberger at 148, and Taylor Shirey at 170.
The Clearfield Junior High girls team won the junior high division, while Curwensville took third. Winning titles were Angela and Ashley Rougeux from Clearfield and McKenzie Astorino and Brylee London for Curwensville.
Next up for the Curwensville squad will be a trip to Canonsburg for the Powerade Tourney at Cannon-McMillan on Wednesday December 27. They will then host the Curwensville Girls Tournament on January 6, which will be Clearfield’s next mat action.
