GLENDALE — An early tip-off between a couple teams that are struggling in the young season was on the docket Friday night as the Curwensville Lady Tide continued their long trip away from home against the Lady Vikings of Glendale. Curwensville was trying to get their first win on the year, while Glendale was trying to get their second.
On this night, nothing was stopping the home squad as they would ultimately rout the Lady Tide in a 65-15 contest that finished with a running clock.
Glendale used the ability of Madison Peterson to get out early and often, as the junior standout would account for nearly half the scoring for the Vikings. She finished the night with a game-high 36 points. Mya Markel also hit double figures for Glendale, finishing with 14. Curwensville was down one starter as Karleigh Freyer was not in the lineup, limiting some of the output for the offense. Briah Peoples led the Tide with six points.
The mercy rule clock came into effect in the third quarter as the Tide could only manage one bucket, and only could muster seven for the entire game. Between both squads, only two free throws were shot on the night as well, one by each team.
Curwensville (0-6) has an entire week to regroup, as they will participate in the annual Philipsburg-Osceola Memorial Tournament next Friday and Saturday.
