DUBOIS — The Clearfield Bison wrestling team headed up the mountain Thursday night to face off with the DuBois Beavers and defeated their hosts 51-15 to take home the Pete Morelli Memorial plaque once again. Morelli was a long time coach for the Beavers.
The Bison climbed to 4-0 on the year, while the Beavers dipped to 0-2.
The Bison raced out to a 24-0 lead after four bouts as Will Domico (4-0), Brady Collins (8-0), Carter Chamberlain (7-1), and Hunter Ressler (4-3) each picked up falls from 160 through 215.
District 9 AAA champ Zach Gallagher got the Beavers on the board at 285, but the Bison quickly got six back ay 107 when Xavier Lutz (4-4) received a forfeit, making the score 30-3.
Antonio Giambanco got bonus points for the Beavers with an 8-0 major decision at 114.
Dakota Shugarts (4-4) used a first period takedown in his 3-0 win at 121 and Bryndin Chamberlain (4-3) had a first period fall to extend the Bison lead to 39-7.
Back to back major decisions by two more returning district champs for DuBois in Samson Deeb at 133 and Davey Aughenbaugh at 139 brought the Beavers as close as they would get the rest of the way at 39-15.
Colton Bumbarger (5-4) at 145 and Ty Aveni (6-4) at 152 had quick falls to close out the meet and set a 51-15 final score.
The Bison are off until next Tuesday when they travel to Brookville to face the defending District 9 AA team champion Raiders.
