WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representatives Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA) and Bill Keating (D-MA), co-chairs of the bipartisan German American Caucus, today introduced a resolution reaffirming German American friendship and supporting continued cooperation between the United States and Germany.
More than 34 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, this resolution reaffirms the importance of the alliance between the United States and Germany and underscores our shared commitment to democracy. It also supports the “Wunderbar Together” initiative, which aims to celebrate German-American art, culture, science, friendship, and more.
“I am proud to introduce this resolution highlighting our important alliance with Germany alongside the co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional German American Caucus, Rep. Bill Keating,” Rep. Thompson said. “My home state of Pennsylvania has one of the largest populations of Americans with German heritage. The Caucus and this resolution acknowledge the many ties and connections shared between our two countries, and I look forward to continuing to foster this partnership in the years to come.”
“Germany and the United States share a partnership built on our joint commitment to democracy and the strong economic bond between our countries,” Rep. Keating said. “This resolution represents the strength of German American friendship, which is vital to ensuring further transatlantic cooperation to meet our shared challenges and seize emerging opportunities.”
“The German American friendship is the most important economic relationship and partnership based on shared values and interests. The Representative of German Industry and Trade (RGIT) supports Representative Thompson’s and Representative Keating’s resolution to reaffirm the German American friendship and continue supporting cooperation between the two countries.” – Representative of German Industry and Trade
