Morrisdale Man Charged with 720 New Child Sex Offenses Denied Bail

CLEARFIELD – Edward L. McGuire Sr., 73, of Morrisdale was jailed last week on 720 new child sex offenses.

Charges filed by Clearfield state police include 144 felony counts each of criminal attempt-rape of child, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors.

Online court documents indicate McGuire remains in county jail as he’s been denied bail for posing “an extreme threat to children.”

The affidavit of probable cause in the new case provides details from the victim’s forensic interview Oct. 19 at the Child Advocacy Center of Clearfield County.

The assaults allegedly occurred daily at McGuire’s residence, beginning when she was 5 years of age and continuing until she was age 10.

In the first case, McGuire was charged for the alleged sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl on Aug. 27 at his residence.

State police conducted an interview with McGuire on Oct. 9, and he reportedly admitted to having indecent contact with the girl.

For this, he’s charged with felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, rape of child, sexual assault and corruption of minors and misdemeanor indecent assault.

McGuire waived his right to a preliminary hearing in both cases Wednesday, sending them to the court of common pleas for further disposition.
