CLEARFIELD – Four of the five people charged in connection with an alleged robbery that occurred earlier this month in Hyde have been taken into custody, Clearfield Regional police say.
Warrants were obtained for Jason Sipe, 43, of Hyde; John Irwin, 39, of DuBois; Bradley Maines, 46, of Woodland; Paul Hoyt, 34, of Curwensville; and Taylor Wisor, 35, also of Hyde.
Maines, Sipe, Hoyt and Wisor have been arraigned and housed in county jail while a warrant remains active for Irwin. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact police.
The charges stem from events that occurred at approximately 3:47 a.m. Oct. 6 on Powell Avenue in Hyde, according to a department-issued news release.
The victim told officers he was asked to take a friend to a residence, but upon arrival, he was beaten numerous times in the legs by a group of people with baseball bats.
He was also allegedly forced to remove his clothes, with the group taking everything in his possession as well as his vehicle. He then fled on foot and found someone to call police.
The victim’s vehicle was left abandoned in another location, the release states, but was recovered by officers.
Sipe is charged with felony conspiracy (three counts), robbery (two counts) and theft by unlawful taking, plus several related misdemeanor offenses.
Hoyt is charged with felony conspiracy (three counts), theft by unlawful taking and manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, plus several related misdemeanor offenses.
Maines is charged with felony conspiracy (three counts), as well as misdemeanor reckless endangerment and conspiracy (two counts).
Wisor is charged with felony conspiracy (three counts), as well as misdemeanor possession of instrument of crime, reckless endangerment, conspiracy (two counts) and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bail is set at $150,000 for Sipe, Hoyt and Maines and $50,000 for Wisor with preliminary hearings scheduled for Oct. 25 during centralized court.
Irwin, who is still wanted at this time, is charged with felony conspiracy (three counts), robbery (two counts) and theft by unlawful taking, plus several related misdemeanor offenses.
