CLEARFIELD – A Morrisdale man facing assault charges for hitting a 7-year-old boy was sentenced Monday during sentencing court.
Jordan Matthew Gooch, 37, pleaded guilty to simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and one summary before President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman, who sentenced him to four years probation.
He must complete a nurturing program and anger management counseling. It was noted this is a domestic violence case.
Originally Gooch was charged with aggravated assault.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, police received a report that Gooch had struck the child in the face while in a car on Sept. 3, 2022.
When they spoke with Gooch, he admitted to hitting him as a disciplinary measure.
The boy suffered a bloody nose, bruising below his eye, two chipped teeth and a fat lip, according to the report.
