Cupp Charged in DuBois Rape Case

DUBOIS – A current inmate of the Jefferson County Jail has been charged with the alleged rape of a woman in DuBois, reported WJAC-TV on Wednesday.

Court documents detail how Dakota James Glen Cupp, 26, went to the victim’s home on Aug. 14. He entered her bedroom and locked the door.

When Cupp stated that his intent was to have sex with her, the victim advised she didn’t want to and asked Cupp to leave, the report states.

In a social media conversation with the victim the next day, Cupp allegedly admitted to having forced himself on her. He then asked for her forgiveness.

Initially Cupp claimed that he had sex with the victim, but it was consensual until police confronted him with their social media exchange.

Cupp has been charged with felony rape, sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault, as well as misdemeanor indecent assault.

Currently a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29 during centralized court before Magisterial District Judge David S. Meholick of DuBois.
