PSBA’s Missed Deadline Forces County to Postpone Mahaffey Broadband Meeting

MAHAFFEY – The Pennsylvania State Broadband Authority missed the deadline by which it was to provide Broadband Infrastructure Project (BIP) grant application data that may impact the local area.

“[It] was promised yesterday, and as of close of business today, we still have nothing,” stated Clearfield County Commissioner Dave Glass via e-mail Wednesday.

To assist local municipalities with preparing feedback to PSBA, the county commissioners planned a series of forums throughout the county.

The purpose of the forums was to review the various project applications that have been submitted to PSBA, discuss the potential impact for citizens and address questions to the best of their ability.

These forums are designed for municipal leaders such as council members and township supervisors. The public is welcome; however, seating may be limited and public comment may be extremely limited.

“That data is the basis for these meetings, so we are postponing the Mahaffey meeting scheduled for tomorrow,” stated Glass.

“Those who were planning to attend are welcome to come to one of the other meetings next week.”

There’s some chance that the county may reschedule for the week after next, depending on the response at next week’s meetings, according to Glass.

Currently forums are scheduled for:

Glass—on behalf of the county commissioners—apologized for the short notice regarding the Mahaffey meeting’s postponement, and any inconvenience this may cause municipal officials.

Any questions regarding these forums can be e-mailed to cccomm@clearfieldco.org and the commissioners will respond within one business day.
