DuBois City Votes to Initiate “Buyout” of Suspended City Manager

John “Herm” Suplizio

DUBOIS – DuBois City Council on Monday night voted to initiate the “buyout” and dismissal process with suspended City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio, according to WJAC-TV.

In March Pennsylvania’s Office of Attorney General charged Suplizio with allegedly stealing more than $620,000 from public accounts over a period of time.

The motion was presented by Councilman Jim Aughenbaugh, and subsequently approved by council with Councilman Pat Reasinger being the only opposing vote.

Reasinger provided explanation of his opposition, saying he doesn’t believe Suplizio should be paid anything.  “I think it’s ridiculous.”

However, for Mayor Ed Walsh, it’s the “first step” towards the termination of Suplizio, who has been on administrative leave.

“We [still] have to figure out exactly what amount of money will be owed to him, how we will pay it out,” Walsh explained to WJAC-TV.

Council encourages individuals to apply for the city manager position, particularly Interim Manager Chris Nasuti.
