On July 3, U.S. veterans and members of the community were on-hand to witness local scouts raise the new flag at Highland Oaks at Water Run Landing.
The senior living community is part of Penn Highlands WRC Senior Services. The three-story facility is home to 60 older adults including 11 veterans.
The family of deceased Vietnam veteran Donald Stinebiser was the first to respond to a community-wide request by the facility’s leadership for a flag and pole.
The initiation ceremony and permanent placement of the flag pole honor the veterans who call Highland Oaks at Water Run Landing home; is a tribute to the facility’s employees who have served our country; and is displayed as a source of pride and unity for the community.
State Rep. Donna Oberlander attended the ceremony and is shown with Kurt D. Nesbitt, director of Personal Care/Independent Living/Affordable Housing at Highland Oaks at Water Run Landing.
