CLEARFIELD – Lock Haven Clearfield, part of Commonwealth University, and the Mature Resources Area Agency on Aging will host two Life-long Learning Institute programs during the month of April.
All classes will be held in the academic building, room A131.
The program, More Myths and Facts Regarding Crime and Criminal Justice, will be held from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11.
This presentation by Dr. Michael J. McSkimming, associate professor of criminal justice, anthropology and sociology, is the continuation of an earlier program, which explored some of the common misconceptions regarding crime and criminal justice.
Between popular television crime dramas, news headlines and other sources, many have a false understanding regarding what takes place in the criminal justice system.
Topics such as police corruption, criminal culpability, capital punishment, and criminal justice careers will be explored.
On Tuesday, April 25, there will be a program on CPR and life support from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. with Curtis Grenoble, physician assistant studies.
This session will not provide attendees with certifications, but will give a basic understanding of concepts regarding human physiology and emergency interventions to help save a life.
Grenoble will go over the ABCs of CPR and basic life support and discuss how these skills can successfully be implemented in emergency situations.
