CLEARFIELD – A Morrisdale man accused of molesting a 12-year-old girl pleaded guilty Monday during sentencing court.
William D. Kempf, 33, was originally charged by state police with criminal attempt/aggravated indecent assault, four counts of indecent assault and four counts of corruption of minors after a report that he had sexually assaulted the girl four times starting in December 2021.
He pleaded guilty to two felony counts of indecent assault and one felony count of corruption of minors.
Judge Paul Cherry referred to his actions as “terrible, terrible crimes” and said he hoped Kempf would get the help he needs in state prison.
He then sentenced him to serve 18 months to four years in state prison for each count, with each sentence running concurrent with the others.
He was also given three years consecutive re-entry probation and must complete sex offender counseling.
Although a professional assessment determined he was not a sexually-violent predator, Kempf will still have to register with authorities under Megan’s Law.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, police were called to a Graham Township residence for a disturbance at the home on June 23. When they arrived, they learned about the assaults.
The first incident reportedly happened when Kempf forced her to touch his private area through his shorts before he touched her legs, privates and put his hand under her shirt.
At another time, he was looking at pornography on his phone and asked her to participate in an interactive porn game.
He then made her sit on his lap and touched her with an electric toothbrush, before taking her to a bedroom where he exposed himself. She told investigators she kept her knees together while he tried to further assault her.
This encounter ended when other people entered the home.
The third time, he was again reportedly watching pornography as he touched her inappropriately.
During the last incident on June 23, Kempf picked her up “bride style” and took her to the bathroom, police said.
He hesitated when three boys came into the home, and ordered her to stay while he talked to the boys. After telling them to go outside, he locked them out.
When he returned to the bathroom, he told her to sit on his lap while he put his hand under her shirt.
The boys continued pounding on the door causing him to stop the assault and allow them into the home, according to the criminal complaint.
