CLEARFIELD – Penelec, a First Energy Company, invites everyone to an upcoming “Live Wire Safety Demonstration.”
The demonstration will be held Monday, Aug. 1 at 4:30 p.m. in the CNB gravel lot on East Cherry Street between South Second and South Third streets.
This free event for first responders and the public is being coordinated with the lineup of the Clearfield County Fair parade.
Penelec employees will have a large trailer on-site to perform an approximate 30- to 45-minute presentation featuring power lines, transformers and other electric equipment.
The demonstration will include energizing conductors and the dangers that can be presented to emergency service workers and the public who sometimes are the first to arrive at a scene.
A question-and-answer session will be held after the presentation.
Electrical hazards kill an estimated 300 people in the United States workforce yearly. The goal of the presentation is to make the public and responders aware of the many hazards that can be presented.
