Suspended Classroom Aide Charged for Inappropriate Relationship with Student

DUBOIS – A classroom aide who’s been suspended from work at a local private school is facing a dozen felony charges for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a teenage student.

Dawn M. Jobe, 40, of Valier is charged with four counts each of school-intercourse/sexual contact with student, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with minor-sexual offenses.

According to the affidavit, the investigation began March 11 when DuBois City police received information that Jobe was having inappropriate relations with a student at Soaring Heights School.

An employee reported Jobe and the victim had been exhibiting “unacceptable closeness,” and because this was a cause for concern, Jobe had been suspended.

In an interview, the victim told police that he’d been talking to Jobe via SnapChat, and this eventually led to them hanging out together after school hours.

He said she’d pick him up and then they’d go ride around DuBois or on the back roads between DuBois and Punxsutawney.

Sometime in January and or February, Jobe allegedly performed oral sex on the victim at least three times and engaged in intercourse with him at least once.

The victim said the incidents occurred when Jobe parked somewhere secluded off back roads, and messages found on his phone reportedly incriminated Jobe.

A digital cell phone extraction revealed more than 200 phone calls between Jobe and the victim, as well as SnapChat messages, according to the affidavit.

In one message, Jobe allegedly directed the victim to delete all pictures, videos and saved messages because she had been suspended for “boundary issues.”

Jobe is currently scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at 10:45 a.m. May 6 at the DuBois magistrate’s office.
