DUBOIS – The victim of Thursday afternoon’s fatal shooting in DuBois has been identified by Clearfield County Coroner Kim Shaffer-Snyder.
Shaffer-Snyder identified the victim as 46-year-old Jude Srock of DuBois, and says an autopsy will be conducted tomorrow (Friday) morning at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Srock was shot around 4:15 p.m. on South Franklin Street, DuBois Police Chief Blaine Clark told WJAC-TV, and the suspect was quickly apprehended near Sykesville.
Though he was unable to release a motive for the shooting, Clark did say the victim and suspect were familiar with one another. The suspect’s name hasn’t been released.
“I want to make sure the community knows that everybody is safe …,” he said. “There’s not a gunman out there running around. We do have the suspect in custody.”
“Our police did a fantastic job,” Clark added. “Sandy Township, Pennsylvania State Police, I had other units from the other side of the mountain.
“Lawrence Township, Clearfield. Everybody was engaged to locate [the suspect] who was caught very quickly.” The investigation is ongoing at this time.
