Lawrence Township
- On March 1, police received a report about a series of retail thefts at the Clearfield Walmart store. The incidents occurred between Oct. 19 and Dec. 27, and upon investigation, police identified the person responsible as a 23-year-old Clearfield woman who conducted 29 transactions, allegedly under-ringing a total of 89 items that had a total value of $821.14. Charges were filed for retail theft and receiving stolen property through the district court.
- Police reported a drug-related DUI occurred Feb. 28 on state Route 879 in the area of Walmart, Clearfield. During a traffic stop, 22-year-old Mark Quick Jr. of Philipsburg was found to be driving under suspension and while under the influence of controlled substance(s). Quick refused a legal blood draw and was housed in county jail per the request of Clearfield County Probation. Charges were filed through the district court, and the case is pending a preliminary hearing.
- Police received a report of a retail theft in progress Feb. 28 at the Clearfield Walmart store. Upon arrival on-scene, police were notified the suspect had fled in a motor vehicle. Further investigation revealed that a 37-year-old Philipsburg man allegedly removed a pair of $24 athletic shoes from a box and put them on his feet. Then, police say he put his personal shoes in the box, which he left on the rack, and then tried to leave the store without paying. When he was confronted by the loss prevention officer, he fled the scene. He’s been cited for the incident through the district court.
Curwensville Borough
- Police were called to the Locust Street Apartments for a reported physical domestic. Upon arrival, it was found to be verbal in nature only.
- Police were called for a mental health crisis that reportedly involved a violent individual. Upon arrival on-scene, officers deescalated the situation and subsequently transported the female to Penn Highlands Clearfield.
- Lawrence Township police were assisted with an individual who was experiencing a mental health crisis and armed with a knife.
- Police conducted a traffic stop on Filbert Street following a moving violation. Upon investigation, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia were allegedly located inside the vehicle. Police also learned the driver had active warrants and their operating privileges suspended. The vehicle was towed from the scene, and charges are pending.
- Police were called to the Curwensville Commons for an active domestic dispute. Upon arrival on-scene, a male and female were engaged in an argument, and they were advised to desist.
- Police were called to the Locust Street Apartments for an active domestic dispute. Upon arrival, both individuals were found to have left the scene.
- Police were requested to assist at a structure fire where the property owner was reportedly running inside the burning structure. Police arrived on-scene and was able to contain the property owner to a safe location.
- Police located two individuals trespassing during nighttime hours at Irvin Park. The individuals were advised to leave.
