DuBois Business Man Pleads Guilty to Breaking Into Room, Molesting Woman

CLEARFIELD – A DuBois business man pleaded guilty Monday to breaking into a room and molesting a woman.

Police say Gong Yang Song, 41, entered a room where the victim was staying, fondled her breast, put his hand down her pants, and exposed himself to her in November of 2019.

Judge Paul Cherry sentenced him to serve 90 days to two years less one day in the county jail with four years concurrent probation for felony criminal trespass and misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and assault.

The victim, an employee of Song’s at a local restaurant, was sleeping in her locked room at a dormitory-type residence where 10 other employees live, when she awakened to find Song next to her in bed, according to the affidavit.

Even though she told him to stop “multiple times”, he reportedly refused.

As he tried to pin her against the bed, she felt she was going to be raped.

In attempt to stop him, she grabbed a knife from her nightstand and cut her own arm, according to the criminal complaint.

When “blood exploded from the deep cut”, Song let go of her. She was able to run out of the room and ask for help. The others in the residence told Song to take her to the hospital.

On the way, the victim who does not speak English was told not to contact police.

The investigation began after a relative that lives in Brooklyn, NY called police to report the crime.

She explained the victim had been treated at Penn Highlands DuBois before being transported to Altoona Hospital for surgery on her wound.

Later that day, Song and his wife stopped into the police station to explain what happened to the victim.  She told police her husband does not speak English so she spoke for him.

She reportedly stated he drinks a lot. He stopped to see the victim that night and all he remembers is that she cut her arm open and he drove her to the hospital, she told investigators.

The victim reported that Song appeared to be sober and had not been drinking at the time of the incident. She also stated that Song had put the lock on her door and he must have kept a key for himself.
