CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County is considering a request to relocate a polling place in Bradford Township.
At Tuesday’s commissioners’ meeting, Elections Director Dawn Graham said there was a request made to move the Bradford Township, First Precinct, from the Bigler YMCA to the BJW Fire Company’s social hall.
She said oftentimes, there’s quite a bit going on at the YMCA and over the years, there’s been other issues with handicap accessibility and parking.
“You have to go down steep steps and restrooms are in the basement,” Graham said, noting handicap parking is also in a parking lot up top.
“You have to come down this little path that I don’t even really think adheres to accessibility [guidelines]. We feel this is probably the best move.
“The [fire company] has a nice large social hall. There won’t be anything else going on, plenty of parking, it’s handicap accessible and still close to the YMCA.”
The objection period runs through Tuesday, March 1. Anyone with questions or concerns should contact the Election Office at 212 E. Locust St., Suite 106, Clearfield, PA 16830.
You may also call at 814-765-2642, Ext. 5053, or reach election/voter registration staff via e-mail at elections@clearfieldco.org.
Graham also reported Tuesday that she still needs poll workers in multiple election precincts, including Brisbin, Coalport and Grampian Boroughs and Gulich Township.
She said officially has one person to work the Brisbin precinct but is currently waiting to hear back from a couple of people.
Graham said she has no one to work the Coalport precinct and if she doesn’t find workers, she will have to move it in with Beccaria, First Precinct, as she has done with the past two elections.
She also needs poll workers in Grampian Borough and Gulich Township, where she currently only has individuals to serve as her judges.
If you’re a registered voter in any of these precincts and would like to help, please contact the Clearfield County Election Office at 814-765-2642, Ext. 5053.
