CMA Working on Financing for Sewer System Takeover

CLEARFIELD – Manager John Williams of the Clearfield Municipal Authority reported Tuesday that the authority is working on finishing the financing for the sewer takeover of Clearfield Borough and Lawrence Township.

There is a meeting scheduled with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in Williamsport on March 1 to discuss the authority’s plans once the takeover of the borough and township systems is finalized.

Williams also reported that the authority will be pursuing a grant for a new sewer vac truck. The grant is open-ended and quotes for specific equipment have to be submitted. The grant comes from the PA racehorse development and gaming act.

The DEP reviewed the pilot study protocol for the membrane filtration upgrade to the Montgomery water treatment facility and requested additional water quality data to justify the use of direct filtration without sedimentation.

CMA submitted the data and DEP approved the protocol on Feb. 9. The pilot study equipment will be installed in March and will operate from April to June.
