JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – Charges for a Brookville man who allegedly provided alcohol and tobacco to underage individuals were waived for court last Thursday.
Court documents indicate the following charges against 21-year-old John Bruce Dashner were waived for court during a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak on Thursday, February 3, at 11:00 a.m.:
– Corruption of Minors, Misdemeanor 1 (three counts)
– Sell/Furnish Liquor Etc. to Minor, Misdemeanor 3 (seven counts)
– Sale of Tobacco, Summary (15 counts)
The charges have been transferred to the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas.
He is currently free on $20,000.00 unsecured bail.
The charges were filed after police caught a Brookville Area High School student with a tobacco product.
Details of the case:
According to a criminal complaint, on November 24, Brookville Borough Police interviewed a 14-year-old juvenile who had been caught in possession of a tobacco product at Brookville Area High School.
According to the complaint, the juvenile disclosed that the tobacco product was purchased from a man named “John” at the Memorial Park in Brookville.
The complaint indicates after further investigation, police were given the name John Dashner as a possible suspect.
Police then interviewed Dashner about purchasing or providing tobacco products and/or alcoholic beverages to individuals under the age of 21.
According to the complaint, Dashner admitted he had purchased alcoholic beverages for seven individuals, with ages ranging from 15 to 20. He provided police with the names and approximate ages of the individuals. He also reportedly admitted to purchasing or providing tobacco products to approximately 15 different individuals, with ages ranging from 14 to 20, and provided those individuals’ names and approximate ages, as well.
After speaking with Dashner, police also interviewed several of the individuals he had named, and the individuals reportedly corroborated that Dashner had provided them with alcohol and/or tobacco while they were under the age of 21.
