WOODLAND – An apartment building erupted in flames just after 4 p.m. Monday in Bradford Township, Clearfield County.

The building, located at 2412 Pinetop Rd., was the old Woodland Post Office that housed three apartment units.

“First-arriving units advised heavy smoke showing from the second floor,” according to the BJW Volunteer Fire Company.

“As first units began an interior attack and due to the size of the building, a request [was made] for a second alarm.”

Pine Top Road and several other side streets were closed, and people were urged to avoid the area.

The local American Red Cross and Salvation Army are assisting the affected residents, according to WJAC-TV.

BJW was assisted by several mutual aid companies, including Clearfield, Lawrence Township and Hyde fire companies.

Others included Chester Hill, Wallaceton, Morris Township, Winburne, Grassflat, Columbia, Houtzdale, Hope, Mountain Top and Goshen.

North Point Station No. 39 and JE DuBois Hose Co. No. 3 also assisted on-scene.
