EXPLOREJEFFERSON: Area Man Faces Charges Following Scuffle with State Troopers in Punxsy

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Several charges have been filed against an area man who was allegedly involved in a scuffle with state troopers in Punxsutawney earlier this month.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney-based State Police filed criminal charges against 63-year-old Clarence Charles Daisher, of Luthersburg.

According to a criminal complaint, around 2:40 a.m. on January 9, officials were preparing to transport Clarence Charles Daisher to the Clearfield County Jail after being placed in custody in relation to a prior incident related to a crash in Clearfield County.

According to the complaint, Daisher was given his boots to put on after previously removing them while in a police vehicle. He reportedly had his left hand handcuffed and his left leg shackled to a bench in a patrol room, and after putting on his right boot, a trooper instructed him to put his left leg on the bench so the shackle could be removed from his left ankle.

The complaint indicates Daisher then “became upset” and threw his boot when the trooper would not remove his handcuff prior to him putting his other boot on. Daisher reportedly stated, “Take this (expletive) handcuff off or I’ll (expletive) break it,” then he tried to break the handcuff and remove it from his wrist. However, after realizing he was unable to break or remove the cuff, Daisher put his other boot on. He was then asked to stand up and turn toward the wall.

Daisher reportedly responded by stating, “I’m going to kill your entire family,” then refused to follow several requests to follow the instructions given by troopers.

According to the complaint, one trooper then approached Daisher and reached for his right arm, but Daisher pulled away, lifted his right leg, and tried to kick the trooper. The trooper pulled out his OC spray to get Daisher to comply, but he did not deploy it. The trooper then approached Daisher with the handcuffs in his right hand, and Daisher reportedly struck the trooper in the left arm with a closed fist.

Police ordered Daisher again to turn toward the wall and stop resisting. When the trooper approached Daisher again, Daisher reportedly attempted to kick the trooper again, and he was then “assisted to the ground” and placed in handcuffs and leg shackles.

Daisher was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock at 11:45 a.m. on January 19 on the following charges:

– Aggravated Assault – Attempts to cause or causes Bodily Injury to designated individuals, Felony 2
– Terroristic Threats With Intent to Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor 2

Unable to post $10,000.00 (10%) monetary bail, he was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. on February 1, with Judge Mizerock presiding.

Court documents indicate Daisher is also facing charges in Clearfield County in relation to a crash that took place in Bell Township on January 8.
