EXPLOREJEFFERSON: Hearing Set for Wednesday for Woman Accused of Recording Phone Conversation Without Permission, Posting It to Facebook

REYNOLDSVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday for a Reynoldsville woman who allegedly recorded a phone conversation she had with a school official, without consent, and then posted the recording to Facebook.

Court documents indicate 36-year-old Shandelle R. Hyde is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 1:30 p.m. on January 12, 2022, on the following charges:

– Disclose Intercepted Communications, Felony 3
– Use Intercepted Communications, Felony 3

The charges stem from an incident that took place in October.

According to a criminal complaint, DuBois-based State Police responded to the Jeff Tech school in Winslow Township, Jefferson County, around 11:35 a.m. on October 6, 2021, to speak with a known victim.

The complaint states that the victim reported she had contacted Shandelle Hyde by phone earlier that morning because she needed Hyde to pick up her child from the school due to COVID-19 related issues.

The victim told police that Hyde recorded their phone conversation without her acknowledgment or permission and then proceeded to post it on Facebook.

Police then interviewed Hyde about the incident.

Hyde reportedly admitted to recording the phone conversation with the victim and posting it on her Facebook page. She indicated she posted it on social media because she wanted answers from the school’s administration about why her child had to be sent home from school, according to the complaint.

Police also recorded the video that was posted to Hyde’s Facebook page and submitted a Preservation Request for the video to Facebook.

The incident report for the case was then forwarded to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for a prosecution decision, and on October 13, District Attorney Jeff Burkett authorized prosecution.

The charges were filed against Hyde through Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana’s office on October 26, 2021.
