Clearfield Commissioners Urge Residents to Get COVID Vaccination

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners are urging residents to schedule their COVID-19 vaccination appointments.

At the end of Tuesday’s board meeting, Commissioner Dave Glass reported he’d looked at Penn Highlands Healthcare’s Web site Monday and again before the meeting.

He discovered there were appointments still available for the COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Wednesday in DuBois. “I roughly counted at least 40 or 50.

“We’re in Phase 1B and next week Phase IC opens, then the week after that everyone is eligible.” Glass said he’s also spoken with people in the community, particularly seniors.

“Some are saying they’re waiting for the call back … but I think I can speak for the three of us and say: ‘don’t wait. Go ahead and sign up.’”

He also encouraged friends and family members to help their elderly loved ones with making a vaccine appointment on the Penn Highlands Web site.

“There’s a slack in the system right now, but that will likely go away once everyone is eligible. It’s an opportunity to get in and get your shot.”

Glass said all three commissioners have received their vaccination, and reported “very minor” side effects. “We’re pleased to now be protected.

“We encourage the public to get the shot as soon as you can for yourself, your family and businesses of Clearfield County.” Commissioner Chairman John Sobel agreed.

“It’s very, very important … to get the shot,” Sobel said. “We’re all suffering from ‘COVID fatigue’ and Clearfield County as well as our nation needs to get back to normal.

“The quickest way we’ll get back to normal is for everyone to get their shots … it’s very, very important for our small businesses in the county so they can interact comfortably.”
