CLEARFIELD – Lawrence Township discussed road repairs and permitting for food trucks at Tuesday’s meeting.
Roadmaster Ron Woodling said that the bids for paving came in a little lower than anticipated and he would like to use the rest of the money for base repair on Coal Hill Road.
Woodling explained that his plan since becoming roadmaster has been to spend one half to one third of the budget for road work on paving and the rest on things like tar and chip.
He has also been working on a plan to eventually get all the dirt roads paved.
However, this year the base work on Coal Hill has become critical, and if it isn’t done and another winter like this one will mean having to completely rebuild the entire road.
Earlier in the meeting, a resident of Knotty Pine Road asked about having something done with the dust on the road, which is already getting bad.
The supervisors agreed to request bids for Coal Hill Road and then see where the budget is before planning anything else.
Code Enforcement Officer Deb Finkbeiner asked about permits for food trucks in the township.
Last year, due to COVID-19 cancellations of events, the township opted to waive the fees for vendors, although they still needed to notify the code office of their plans to set up so that she could come and review the site.
The supervisors said the fees should be charged this year since it appears that the events will go forward as planned, but discussion on altering the fees some for people setting up for the entire season was tabled so the supervisors can consider options.
