DUBOIS – The Sandy Township Supervisors on Monday night addressed various items of business.
The supervisors:
- reported most COVID relief funds allocated for fire department personal protective equipment have been exhausted. Some PPE, like gloves, remain on back order and will be distributed upon receipt. Supervisor Kevin Salandra believes the township will receive additional COVID relief funds, however.
- approved Resolution 8-2021 and dropped the requirement of a selected towing service having an answering service. The township plans to have either a single or group of pre-approved towing services that would be given priority when a township vehicle needs towed. That way, the township has a fixed price for services in advance. With the resolution’s approval, the supervisors will solicit bids from area towing services.
- discussed eventually having in-house repairs for fire department air packs. Currently, the department has 67 air packs and inspections cost $65 per pack; any pack that requires repair has additional service costs of $115 per hour for labor.
- reported residents are welcome to check out a pair of the newly-required garbage bins in the Sandy Township Municipal Building lobby. The first is a 35-gallon model and the other is a 95-gallon model.
- announced a public hearing will be held Feb. 5 on Ordinance 2021-1, which would alter some permitting procedures for Sandy Township. For example, these would include submission of plans to the Planning Commission 10 days in advance of its meeting, instead of just five. It would also permit township staff to make minor changes, such as those affecting 2,500-square feet or less.
