Bids for paving were opened at the Lawrence Township Supervisor’s meeting Tuesday night, with the lowest bid coming from Grannas Bros. of Holidaysburg at $115,033.20.
Supervisor Jeremy Ruffner expressed some concern at the difference between Grannas and the next lowest bid from HRI Inc. of $121,980, but everything appeared to be in order.
Supervisor Brian Collins said he heard the state isn’t bidding much out this year and the competition for jobs is fierce.
The third supervisor, Randy Powell, was absent due to the fire at Clearfield Machine Co.
Collins asked that the township consider installing an arc light at the intersection near the Veterans of Foreign Wars post, noting that it is a very dark intersection and dangerous and it was agreed they will contact the VFW about taking on the cost of electricity for the arc light.
Police Chief Doug Clark said he had three people contact him on the same day about scammers claiming to be from the Social Security Administration and requesting personal information.
Clark reminds residents that SSA, FBI, IRS or even Publishers Clearinghouse will not call and ask for personal information, and when in doubt, hang up and call the police.
The supervisors also approved having Harris Commercial Cleaning clean the new building at a cost of $896 per month and also leasing an all-in-one copier/printer for the police department from Xerox at a cost of $228 per month.
