Public Meeting Tentatively Set for March 16 on Proposed Consolidation of Sandy Twp., DuBois City

DUBOIS – A public meeting on the proposed consolidation of Sandy Township and DuBois City is tentatively set for March 16.

On Monday night, the supervisors announced the meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the DuBois Country Club.

City and township officials are also in search of a second location so more people can participate via telecommunication.

Township Manager Shawn Arbaugh said both the supervisors and city council have copies of the consolidation study. Currently, he said it’s being reviewed and revisions will be made based upon their feedback.

Following the review period, Arbaugh said the consolidation study will be made available to the public.

In other business, the supervisors reported that Penn Highlands Healthcare is in search of a new location to hold mass COVID-19 vaccinations.

Also, it was announced that the Light Community Church will distribute boxes of food at no cost every Wednesday in February.

The distributions will take place at 11 a.m. at the DuBois Mall. There are no eligibility requirements, such as income.
