CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County Government has resumed its “major functions” following a cyberattack in early January. The cause of the cyberattack is still under investigation.
On Tuesday, the county commissioners approved a statement of work agreement with GDC Information Technology Services & Solutions of Chambersburg.
GDC helped the county rebuild its servers following the cyberattack on Jan. 9, and offered a 50-hour block rate of $6,600 for its work, said Commissioner Dave Glass.
“We had the option of paying a regular hourly rate, or for like a 50-hour or 100-hour block,” he said. “… That (50-hour block) will save us a few bucks from the normal hourly rate.
“I’m not saying this work is cheap but the work they did for us was invaluable. Without them, we would not be back up and running right now.”
Glass noted the county’s “major functions” have been back up and running without any difficulty, and all that’s left to take care of is minor things like reconnecting printers and such.
He declined to provide a total cost estimate of the cyberattack to the county because he didn’t have costs from GTL for its work on the jail’s computer system, and he also wasn’t sure what would be covered by insurance.
In other business, the commissioners:
- proclaimed Feb. 7-14 as National Marriage Week in Clearfield County at the request of the Children’s Aid Society.
- ratified its PA Savin maintenance and service agreement at the request of District Attorney Ryan Sayers and Jail Warden David Kessling. The service helps victims, law enforcement and community members keep up to date on the status of an inmate housed in a county jail, state prison or under state parole supervision within Pennsylvania. PA SAVIN allows you to receive specific information about a person’s custody status, such as an inmate’s release, transfer or escape.
- approved a copier lease agreement with Xerox for the county’s 911 Center.
- approved the bills as presented by the Controller’s office.
