DuBois Council Details Projects for 2021

DUBOIS – DuBois City Council on Monday night announced several projects that will take place during the upcoming year.

City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio said grant funding was key to the city’s ability to finance these projects, especially the pool renovations.

He projected the pool project to cost $2 million dollars with its grant requiring a 50-50 match. This means the grant requires the city to match its $1 million award.

However, he said the city can use the value of city-owned land towards its match requirement, which will eliminate additional project spending in this case.

Solicitor Toni Cherry reminded the public when the city receives grant funding, it must be used for specific purposes. Otherwise, it must be returned.

Suplizio is urging any citizens with questions about any project plans to either contact him or council members directly.

Suplizio said the total costs of the projects is $11 million, which includes grant funds.
