CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners on Tuesday approved the resignation of Joseph Bigar Jr., public safety director, for retirement purposes.

Bigar’s retirement is effective Jan. 29, said Commissioner John A. Sobel, board chairman. Bigar has served the county in his current position since fall of 2011.

“We certainly want to thank Joe for all those years of service to Clearfield County in this difficult position,” Sobel said, “… and we wish him all the best on whatever path life takes him in the future.”

Sobel and Commissioner Dave Glass said the board only learned of Bigar’s retirement plans Monday, Jan. 25, and so discussions will now begin on filling the position.
