HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed 4,628 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the state-wide total to 812,495 cases.
According to the department’s Web site, Clearfield County has had 5,395 (+24) total cases since March and 90 deaths (+2) while 16,090 people have tested negative for the virus. Of those cases, 4,250 are confirmed and 1,145 are probable.
There are 3,887 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, and of that number, 770 patients are in the intensive care unit.
Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. More data is available here.
The trend in the 14-day moving average number of hospitalized patients per day has reportedly increased by nearly 4,100 since the end of September.
The state-wide percent positivity for the week of Jan. 15 – Jan. 21 is 10.5 percent. The most accurate daily data is available on the Web site, with archived data also available.
The department also reported 219 new deaths attributed to COVID-19, bringing Pennsylvania’s death toll to 20,883. Seventy-nine (79) percent of patients have recovered from the virus.
There are also 3,579,851 individuals who have tested negative state-wide to date.
In nursing and personal care homes, there are 61,888 resident cases of COVID-19, and 11,663 cases among employees, for a total of 73,551 at 1,530 distinct facilities in all 67 counties.
Out of the total deaths, 10,266 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. A county breakdown can be found here.
It was also noted that approximately 22,349 of Pennsylvania’s total cases are among health care workers.
State health officials say mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home, and is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.
