Lefort’s Sweet Shoppe Adds Escape Room

CLEARFIELD – A downtown Clearfield sweet spot has added an escape room.

An escape room assigns a gamer or team of gamers to a mission within a themed-room. Once inside, they must uncover hidden clues and complete tasks throughout the room.

For example, they may find a container requiring a passcode or a lock requiring a key to open. If they uncover all the clues and complete the mission, they’ll successfully free themselves.

Sweet Shoppe Escape Rooms, a division of Lefort’s Sweet Shoppe in downtown Clearfield, has created an escape room based upon a “Speakeasy” during the 1920’s prohibition.

Gamers will be locked into a Speakeasy that’s to be raided by Eliot Ness and his famous team of law enforcement agents, the “Untouchables.”  They must uncover clues and complete tasks from “the buss” in order to “escape.”

If they fail, the coppers will haul them off to the Hoosegow (jail).

Lefort’s Sweet Shoppe has tapped into the escape room market in response to declining business that can be attributed to COVID-19. Costs to gamers are competitive with other area escape rooms.

The Speakeasy is designed for three to six individuals. Each 60-minute session must be booked in advance online at sweetshoppeescaperooms.com. The escape room will be open seven days a week.

Other rooms are currently in development, and will be announced when they become available for booking. Sweet Shoppe Escape Rooms are the first in Clearfield.

“This is another attraction for Clearfield and for both visitors and residents alike,” said Charles Lefort, owner/manager of Lefort’s Sweet Shoppe and Sweet Shoppe Escape Rooms.

“Escape rooms have become an extremely popular activity with individuals willing to travel long distances to experience new and different rooms. It’s just one more attraction and asset for downtown Clearfield.”

Lefort’s Sweet Shoppe and Sweet Shoppe Escape Rooms are located at 22 N. Third St., Clearfield. You can also follow the escape rooms on Facebook.
