JOHNSTOWN — The pandemic-adjusted schedule for the Clearfield Bison has meant that their practice time has become game time. With no sports allowed in December due to regulations, and the team only able to hold one practice in the week leading up to the season, each game in essence has basically become a practice.
After gaining their footing a night earlier in their first win of the season, Clearfield boarded the bus to make a road trip to Westmont Hilltop, a game that was scheduled just one day ago when Clearfield’s original opponent, Bishop Guilfoyle, had to cancel.
The road trip was worth it as Clearfield came out firing, thanks to a monster night from Karson Rumsky, to go back-to-back in victories with a 67-57 triumph over the Hilltoppers.
As stated, Rumsky was the leader of the night, hitting 11 shots from the floor and hitting 5-for-8 from the charity stripe, his first misses from the line all season, to lead all scorers with 29 points.
Not to be outdone, Cole Miller added in another 18 points.
For the Hilltoppers, Landon Weeks topped their stat line with 20 points, with Tanner Civis adding in another 13.
Clearfield (2-1) keeps on rolling with the game slate as they have a rare Saturday tip. They will return to Mountain League play on the road against the Philipsburg-Osceola Mounties, with a tip-off set for 4 p.m.
