COMMODORE – It was an opening night journey to Purchase Line High School on Friday for the Curwensville Lady Tide girls basketball squad and in the end it was a very rough outing for the Lady Tide as they were soundly defeated 73-12.
A blistering first quarter for the Lady Red Dragons was all the home team needed to push its early season record to 2-0 with a 29-0 shutout in the first eight minutes.
Purchase Line took a 47-10 bulge into the halftime break and truly never had to look back.
The Lady Tide could manage just two second half points. One tally in the third quarter and one in the fourth.
Alyssa Bakaysa had five points for the Lady Tide with Savannah Carfley adding four.
Purchase Line had four ladies in double figures as Madison Scalese led all scorers on the night with 16 points followed by 14 from Carlena Ward, 12 from Abigail Misko and then 10 by Bethany Smith.
The Lady Tide return to the hardwood for another away game on Tuesday, traveling to Harmony to play the Lady Owls in Moshannon League action.
In the junior varsity game Purchase Line also won 33-4 over the Lady Tide.
