Charges Held to Court in Olanta Man’s Assault Case

CLEARFIELD – An Olanta man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges for allegedly assaulting a corrections officer at the Clearfield County Jail.

Robert W. Passmore Jr., 51, is charged by Lawrence Township police with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor terroristic threats, simple assault and related offenses.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred Nov. 3 at the jail, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Mike Morris.

Police say Passmore refused to move to C-block because he was on the phone. When a sergeant responded, Passmore slammed down the phone and refused all orders.

Passmore was ordered to his cell where he continued to yell and cause a scene; because of his aggressive behavior, the sergeant deployed OC gel.

At this point, Passmore allegedly swung at and struck the sergeant’s nose with a closed fist. Officers took Passmore to the ground with minimal force, then to the restricted housing unit.

During his transport, police say Passmore made several threats towards the sergeant: “Wait till I get out, I’ll get you on the streets.”

Passmore had all charges held to county court following a preliminary hearing on Monday. For this, his bail is currently set at $10,000 monetary.
