DuBois City Council Discusses Pocket Park

Council Member Diane Bernardo suggested that the City of DuBois look into the pocket park near Frank’s Pizza.  Specifically, the partial wall in the park.

“The idea was to put flowers on [it] to make it look nice.  That’s become a problem,” said Bernardo.

The problem, as explained by Bernardo, is that DuBois residents have been reporting to her and the City of DuBois Police Department that the partial wall is being abused.  Specifically named was alleged drug deals and public urination.

“We have no proof that people are doing drugs,” said Bernardo.

City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio told Bernardo that the park is not city property.  This lead city officials and employees proposing that the city talk to the private owner regarding the partial wall.

The City Council voted to move the Dec 24 work session meeting from 4:00 PM to noon.

All council members were in attendance for the meeting.  Council Member Jim Aughenbaugh attended by phone call.
