Song Charged for Allegedly Breaking into Room, Molesting Woman

DUBOIS – A DuBois businessman is facing charges for allegedly breaking into a room and molesting a woman.

Gong Yang Song, 39, was charged last week by DuBois City police for an incident that happened Nov. 28, 2019.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victim, an employee of Song at the Fusion Buffet Restaurant, was sleeping in her locked room at a dormitory-type residence where 10 other employees live, when she awakened to find Song next to her in bed.

He allegedly fondled her breasts and stuck his hand down her pants while he attempted to pull them off. He removed his own pants and exposed himself to her, she told police.

Even though she told him to stop “multiple times,” he reportedly refused.   As he tried to pin her against the bed, she felt she was going to be raped.

In attempt to stop him, she grabbed a knife she had on her nightstand from earlier when she was peeling an apple and cut her own arm, according to the criminal complaint.

When “blood exploded from the deep cut,” Song let go of her. She was able to run out of the room and ask for help. The others told Song to take her to the hospital.

On the way, the victim who does not speak English was told not to contact police.

The investigation began after a relative that lives in Brooklyn, N.Y., called police to report the crime. She explained the victim had been treated at Penn Highlands DuBois before being transported to Altoona Hospital for surgery to an arterial laceration.

Later that day, Song and his wife stopped into the police station to explain what happened to the victim. She said her husband does not speak English so she spoke for him.

She reportedly stated that he likes the victim very much and he drinks a lot. He stopped to see the victim that night and all he remembers is that she cut her arm open and he drove her to the hospital, she told investigators.

The victim reported that Song appeared to be sober and had not been drinking at the time of the incident. She also stated that Song had put the lock on her door and he must have kept a key for himself.

Song is charged with burglary, felony counts of criminal trespass, criminal attempt/burglary, and aggravated indecent assault, in addition to misdemeanor counts of indecent assault and indecent exposure.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 7.
