Curwensville SD Cancels In-person Elementary Classes for 4 Days

CURWENSVILLE – The Curwensville Area School District has cancelled in-person classes at its elementary school for the next four days as a COVID-19 precautionary measure.

The school has two positive coronavirus cases – one staff and one student, said Superintendent Ronald A. Matchock in a phone interview with GANT News on Monday afternoon.

“This is the recommendation of the Pennsylvania Department of Health anytime there’s two or more positive cases in any school within a 14-day period,” he said.

Elementary students will make the transition to remote learning for the next four days, which Matchock said the district is prepared to do.

Currently, he said there are no active coronavirus cases in the secondary school, and so those classes will continue to meet in-person.
