BROCKWAY – For the second week in a row the Curwensville Golden Tide played even with its opponent. And for the second week in a row the Tide offense couldn’t keep it going to pull out the victory.
In the end the Brockway Rovers came up with a 19-14 win on its home field Friday night with two unanswered second half touchdowns.
The Tide took the lead to start the game as sophomore Chase Irwin ran for a three yard score with 5:20 to play in the first quarter with Jake Mullins tacking on the extra point to make it 7-0 Curwensville.
Brockway knotted it at 7-7 in the first on an 18 yard run by Connor Ryckman as Lewis Painter added the PAT.

The 70 yard play was Curwensville’s longest of the 2020 season thus far.
In the third quarter Brockway pulled to within one point of the Tide on a 69 yard touchdown strike from Connor Ford to Austin Schmader at the 3:43 mark. The Rovers failed on the two point conversion attempt keeping the Golden Tide out in front after three quarters, 14-13.
The defense of Curwensville played as tough as it could, but just couldn’t find a way to stop the Rovers in the end as Brockway scored the game’s final points, the winner being a 22 yard TD toss from Ford to Tanner Morreli with 6:55 left in the battle. The two point conversion attempt failed but the Rovers had its first lead, one that held up, at 19-14.
