Sandy Twp. Police Getting New Body Cameras

DUBOIS – Sandy Township police officers will soon be wearing new body cameras that have updated software capabilities.

At Monday night’s supervisors’ meeting, it was noted that the new body cameras will have software that permits officers to upload to a cloud service to share with the district attorney, manage data retention and to synchronize recording with new tasers in the future.

In other business, the supervisors approved posting parks as “young lungs at play.” This action will prohibit smoking and the use of other tobacco products within posted Sandy Township parks.

The township also approved plans for an addition to be built at Oklahoma Elementary School. The 14,800-square foot building addition will allow more space for a gymnasium and administrative offices.

The supervisors also said they’ll begin the review of the noise ordinance, which needs approval by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. It was initially approved for a one-year period, and moving forward, should only need renewed every five years.
