Bison Hold Off Tide in JV Football Opener

Clearfield looks to make it to the Final 8 in the state two years in a row.

CLEARFIELD — In a junior varsity football game in which neither squad could get their offense clicking, the Clearfield Bison used a couple of late goal line stands to hold off the Golden Tide of Curwensville, 14-8.

Will Domico’s two touchdown passes to Luke Billotte was the scoring difference in the game.

After a scoreless opening quarter, Billotte was on the receiving end of an eight yard toss to set the halftime score at 6-0 for the hosts.

Domicos’ second touchdown pass to Billotte, this one a seven yarder, plus Justin Crutchfield’s 2-point conversion reception from Domico gave the Bison a 14-0 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

The Tide didn’t go away easily as they blocked a punt and eventually scored on a short run to bring the game to closer at 14-6.

Two late goal line stands preserved the victory. The final points were score when Clearfield punter Crutchfield purposely gave up a safety with less than a minute remaining in the game.

Crutchfield and Braedon Firanski recovered fumbles for the Bison.
