River’s Landing Project Progressing in Clearfield Borough

CLEARFIELD – Construction of the River’s Landing project in Clearfield Borough is progressing on-schedule and taking form before the eyes of passersby.

The project consists of a two-story, 11,500-square-foot multi-occupancy facility with three suites on the first floor, according to Rob Swales, chief executive officer of Clearly Ahead Development.

The “anchor” tenant of Suite A – a 2,147-square foot space – will be a restaurant, he said, while both Suites B and C have possibilities for commercial or professional use.

Swales said he’s been actively engaged in discussions with possible tenants for all three suites, but due to confidentiality, he was unable to elaborate any further.

There will also be outdoor seating areas and the upper floor will consist of Clearly Ahead office space, incubation/coworking space for business start-ups and shared office space for the first-floor tenants.

In addition, on the upper floor, there will be a   2,200-square foot space for special events, conferences and trainings, etc., with the option to have in-house catering.

Construction of an additional sidewalk will connect the Market Street Bridge to Lower Witmer Park along the river’s edge at Market Square.

The Market Square parking lot will be expanded, and an additional lot to serve River’s Landing and Market Square will be created between Lower Witmer Park and the existing Market Square facility.

“… This connects Rivers Landing to the Raftsman Memorial Park, Lower Witmer Park and Market Square,” Swales said. “It was an opportunity to enhance the existing riverwalk and create a full riverwalk loop.”

The project bid was awarded this past spring to Leonard S. Fiore Inc. of Altoona. Construction was originally slated to commence March 25 but was delayed until early May due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Construction of the additional sidewalk and parking lot spaces at Market Square are currently expected to be complete by the end of October, according to Swales.

Construction of the Rivers Landing facility is “emphatically” utilizing local materials and workers. For example, its “rustic” architecture will be fashioned with local stone/masonry and lumber (for flooring on the entire upper floor).

River’s Landing is expected to be complete in May of 2021. “We’re excited for this welcoming addition to downtown Clearfield and our riverfront that really ties in business, recreation and leisure,” Swales said.
