LT Police Chief, Supers Thank Those Involved in Search and Capture of Murder Suspect

CLEARFIELD – Police Chief Doug Clark and the Lawrence Township Supervisors thanked everyone involved in the search and capture of a wanted murder suspect last week, noting that it took many individuals working together to make the manhunt successful.

Anthony Boone allegedly shot his estranged girlfriend, Rebecca Solt, on Aug. 27, three times at a residence on Legion Road in Hyde before fleeing the scene in his Subaru Forester.

Boone was located, following an almost 24-hour manhunt, near the Hogback Bridge in Pike Township.

Clark said they are still in the process of searching for the car and the dog that was with Boone, although he said the dog has been sighted, but not captured.

Police are asking people with property between Hyde and Curwensville, especially with property where a car could be concealed, to check their land and search for the vehicle. He said they are especially concerned with areas north of state Route 879.

Meanwhile, Boone is hospitalized from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest and shoulder area, is facing surgery and is on guard by local police agencies.

Clark said they are working with the state Department of Corrections to turn custody over to them. Should Boone recover sufficiently from his wounds, he will eventually be transported to state custody to await trial.

He noted it was a combined effort between police from Lawrence Township, Clearfield Borough, Curwensville Borough, Clearfield County Sheriff’s deputies, Sandy Township and the Pennsylvania State Police from Clearfield, Rockview and the Howard area, where Boone is originally from.

Additionally, local fire departments and township roadmaster Ron Woodling helped with closing roads and directing traffic.

Clark also thanked everyone at the 911 center, noting that while they were dealing with that event, “The regular calls don’t stop. They have a good crew there.”

Sgt. Julie Curry was the lead investigator, and Clark named her as officer of the month for August.

In other matters, Supervisor Jeremy Ruffner noted that the Sept. 15 meeting will begin with a public meeting at 6:30 regarding Community Development Block Grant money.

Also, Lawrence Township was awarded $144,768.02 in CARES Act money from Clearfield County, which will be used to cover costs the township expended on coronavirus supplies, including personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies, etc.
