Houtzdale Woman Accused of Driving Under the Influence of Drugs with Baby in the Backseat Waives Hearing

CLEARFIELD – A Houtzdale woman is being accused of driving under the influence of drugs while having her baby in the backseat of her vehicle.

Randee L. Anderson, 35, is charged by Trooper John A. Bacher IV of the Clearfield-based state police with felony endangering the welfare of children, misdemeanor DUI/controlled substance and recklessly endangering another person and summary careless driving.

Anderson waived her right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court. Her bail is set at $5,000 unsecured.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, at approximately 7:20 a.m. May 12, Bacher was traveling north on Parsonville Road near its intersection with Coal Run Road in Decatur Township when he saw a gray Ford Fusion parked on the southern shoulder.

He said a female was passed out in the driver’s seat, and she was later identified as Anderson. The car was reportedly still running and a 10-month-old baby boy was in the backseat.

When Bacher woke up Anderson, he said she acted extremely erratic but claimed she’d just pulled over. She also reportedly had glassy, blood-shot eyes and the appearance of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Anderson admitted she was prescribed Subutex, which she takes daily, and that she’d also used methamphetamine a few days earlier.  She was subsequently administered standard field sobriety tests, which she failed.

While being transported to the police barracks, Anderson fell asleep several times. There she was evaluated by a drug recognition expert, determined to be impaired and transported to the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital for a chemical blood test.
