Clearfield Co. Oks Sabula Polling Place Change

CLEARFIELD – Sabula area voters will have a new polling place beginning with November’s Presidential Election.

On Tuesday, the Clearfield County Commissioners approved the relocation of the Sabula precinct from the Hickory Grange, DuBois, to the Tri-County Church, DuBois. The church is located at 1881 Old 255 Rd.

Elections Director Dawn Graham said the church meets all the polling place requirements like handicap accessibility and parking. She also noted there’s cell phone service, which was the reason given for the relocation.

She said the board of elections is also proposing the relocation of Clearfield Borough’s Second Ward Precinct. She said prior to COVID-19, it was located at the Henry E. Meyer Towers, Clearfield.

Because of virus-related concerns and social distancing requirements, she said it was temporarily relocated to the St. Francis School cafeteria for the June Primary Election.

Graham said with the resumption of school, the board is proposing to permanently relocate Clearfield Borough’s Second Ward Precinct to the Ag Building at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds.

She said the building is handicap accessible and there will be plenty of parking and ability for poll workers and voters to social distance. She said anyone with questions or concerns can contact the Elections Office by Sept. 18.

Graham said her office can be reached at 212 E. Locust St., Suite 106, Clearfield, and via e-mail at elections@clearfieldco.org. If she receives no objections, she will seek the commissioners’ approval Sept. 22.

Lastly, Graham said residents in Burnside Borough will resume voting at the Burnside United Methodist Church, beginning Nov. 3. She said polls had been temporarily moved for the Primary Election following a fire.
