Free Milk and Fruit Drive-Thru Event Scheduled at St. Bernard’s Food Pantry in Hastings on Aug. 26

HASTINGS – The Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (C.F.A.P.), a government-funded grant program, has made it possible for local community organizations to provide much-needed food to those in need.

And the American Dairy Association North East (ADANE) is working with processor Schneider’s Dairy and USDA-approved vendor Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, along with the community organizations recipients — St. Bernard’s Food Pantry, as well as additional partners — to help distribute 2,000 gallons of milk and boxes of fruit through a local milk drive-thru event.

Each vehicle will receive two gallons of milk and one box of fruit, while supplies last at St. Bernard’s Food Pantry, 139 Huber St., Hastings, Pa. 16646 on Wednesday, Aug. 26,from9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

To ensure the safety and health of all involved in the distribution, there will be a drive-thru distribution process.  All drivers and passengers must remain in their vehicles and will be prompted to open their trunk to receive milk and fruit.

If cars do not have a trunk, they will be prompted to open their window. Walk-ups will not be permitted. No registration or paperwork is required for this distribution.

Milk and dairy foods are an important source of essential nutrients. Local dairy farmers are committed to producing wholesome, nourishing milk for families throughout the community.

By the end of August, ADANE, USDA approved purchasing partners and local community organizations will have distributed more than 500,000 gallons of milk since the milk give-away events began in June.
