Lawrence Township Seeking Residents to Serve on Dog Park Committee

CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Supervisors are seeking dog enthusiasts.

At Tuesday’s meeting, Supervisor Jeremy Ruffner said he recently attended a meeting of the Lawrence Township Recreation Park.

Ruffner said he discussed a potential dog park at the Rec Park. He said a dog park is an area that is specifically designated for dogs and their owners. He said the dog park is where owners can allow their dogs to run free and play, as well as interact with other dogs.

Ruffner said many local areas have dog parks, such as Curwensville Lake. He said the Rec Park board was concerned that irresponsible owners may not clean up after their dogs if a dog park is built. Ruffner said the majority of dog owners are responsible, and it may actually improve the other areas of the park, since dogs will now be contained to a designated area.

Ruffner said he is looking to form a committee to continue working to create the park and individuals who are interested in serving can contact via e-mail at Jruffner@lawrencepa.gov.

Also, at the meeting, the supervisors paid their respects to long-time volunteer firefighter Ron Lewis and long-time solicitor James Naddeo, who passed away recently.

In other business, the board voted to pay the bills in the amount of $92,935.92.
