5-Year-Old Boy Dies After Covington Twp. Crash

COVINGTON TOWNSHIP – A five-year-old Altoona boy is dead after a single-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Covington Township, Clearfield County.

According to Clearfield-based state police, the crash occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. when a 31-year-old Altoona woman lost control of her vehicle along Rolling Stone Road.

She reportedly swerved to miss an object on the roadway, causing her vehicle to veer off the east berm. It subsequently exited the roadway and impacted a utility pole.

Upon impact, her vehicle continued a short distance before coming to a rest in the northbound lane, facing west. The boy was pronounced dead prior to arrival at the hospital, state police say.

The woman and two 10-year-old girls, both of Altoona, suffered minor injuries in the crash, and were transported to the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital for treatment.

State police were assisted by Moshannon Valley, Clearfield and Karthaus Emergency Medical Services and Pine Glenn, Winburne, Grassflat, Karthaus, and Morris Township fire departments.
